['peɪzlɪ], Industriestadt in Schottland, Verwaltungssitz des Verwaltungsdistrikts Renfrewshire, 84 800 Einwohner; katholischer Bischofssitz; Universität, Museum mit Kunstgalerie; Spinnereien, Nahrungs- und Genussmittelindustrie, Metall verarbeitende und chemische Industrie, Schiffbau.

['peɪzlɪ], Ian Richard Kyle, nordirischer Politiker, * Armagh 6. 4. 1926; protestantischer Geistlicher, gründete 1951 die Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, die er seitdem als »Moderator« führt. Mit der Herausgabe des »Protestant Telegraph« (seit 1966) wurde er auch publizistisch wirksam und propagierte einen protestantischen Extremismus. Als Mitglied des britischen Unterhauses (seit 1970, mit Unterbrechung 1985-86), verschiedener legislativer Versammlungen Nordirlands und als Vorsitzender der Democratic Unionist Party (seit 1971) lehnte er jede Form der »Machtteilung« (»power sharing«) zwischen der protestantischen Mehrheit und der katholischen Minderheit in Nordirland radikal ab. 1979 wurde er auch Abgeordneter im Europäischen Parlament.
